What is Jom Tani?
Jom Tani is a kind of urban farming initiative to increase public awareness towards current issues such as global warming, climate change as well as other factors that has ripple effects such as drought, less rain, forest burnign and others.
Aside from that, economy too contribute to the food supply chain disruption due to increasing human population as well as the ageing population in the agriculture sector. Not to forget the unsustainable buying power for basic neccessities of Below Middle Class income group.
Back to basic concept, Millenials spending too much time on technologies, internet pairing with smartphones/tablets/computers/television are the most common places where time are being spent to the extends of lack of communcations between family where all families settle down on the living rooms all together and spending quality time having proper conversation and laughter face to face not through devices and emoticons or even emoji. Why not making use of small spaces for your own gardening for food?
Thus, it is hoped that Jom Tani could public awareness of urban farming of back to basic about farming, and reduce living cost through growing own vegetables without worrying much about pesticides and utilize the small spaces as a Genius solution to the Garden Dillema. When JomTani if done by community role, ripple effects are way greater than expected as this would not only helping the community to help the poor also, to unite community regardless of race and embrace community effort of reduce food waste and helping out each other.

Deforestration

Deforestration - Forest Fire , thus Haze.

In Malaysia, this is no strange case as this was cause by the standard traditional slash and burn practice of industry especially Palm Tree Plantation for Land Renewal Process sake.
The other cause for burning forest is due to the rise of temperature, this is more commonly seens in United States and Canada.
However, recent news did covers that Amazon Rainforest was burned.

Deforestration - Greenhouse Gas release

During the daytime, all plants does photosynthesis. Forest are no different.
According to Geographical Association, deforestation is the largest source of carbon dioxide emissions after fossil fuel burning, causing 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions. It should be noted that converting upland dipterocarp forest into palm oil plantations does not trap as much carbon for many years.

When forest was cleared, it also clears up the are for animals including endangered species into human threats since they have lost their place to stay.

Water as one the most fundamental resources, it is no surprise like every year the citizens suffers from water rationing. Forest does its role of filtering water naturally before flowing down to water reservoir. Deforestration causes less groundwater flowing and affect the local climate to be drier than usual.

The more deforestration would allows more soil erosions as there are no tree roots to hold them in place. Especially in highland district, this poses a threat to roadways below the forest.

Re-use your water

Stop Pouring away the water that you used to wash or rise the grains fruits, and vegetables, re-use those waters for your garden/urban farming.
Collect rain water is another alternative to reduce the cost on your water bills. However, be wary of mosquitos breeding.

Utilize your small spaces
